5A6 Expanding CICS - REXX and the 3270 Bridge

Abstract:

This session covers two new enhancements to CICS Transaction Server for VSE/ESA this year, REXX and the 3270 Bridge.

REXX has proved itself on many platforms, including natively in VSE and the first half of the session will cover its implementation within CICS. providing an insight to its capabilities and uses.

The second half of the session will describe the 3270 Bridge. As part of CICS, the 3270 Bridge provides an efficient method for accessing 3270 CICS applications without using a 3270 terminal and without changing the applications. Combined with CICS Web Support, the 3270 Bridge provides the means for accessing these 3270 applications from the Internet. This session will be useful for those who want to understand the basics of using the 3270 Bridge with or without CICS Web Support.
