3B5 Exploiting Recent CMS Function: ITSO Experience with CMS Multitasking
Abstract:
CMS Application Multitasking has been an integral part of CMS since VM/ESA Version 1 Release 2.0; however, many CMS programmers, particularly REXX programmers, have not yet learned how to take advantage of the highly significant and useful functions, such as queues and event services, that this suite of APIs provides. The Boeblingen ITSO center recently conducted a residency for the purpose of producing an approachable, introductory user's guide to CMS application multitasking that provides tutorial information on its capabilities and useful sample programs that installations can employ as a starting point when addressing local needs. This session summarizes the work of that residency. To insure that the information presented is accessible to the widest possible audience, the examples provided are written in REXX, but the information presented should also be valuable to developers using other languages.
