1B5 MQSeries Clients for VM and VSE

Abstract:

MQSeries is middleware that enables applications to communicate with one another through a simple message based protocol that is time independent, and insulated from underlying networking protocols. MQSeries is available in two forms-- the server code which provides the capability to define and manage queues as well as support programs using the MQ API and just the client code.

The MQSeries client enables the creation of programs that utilize the full MQ API, but does not provide support for defining and managing queues. A client program must connect to a system with a level of the server code that supports clients in order to work with messages on queues.

The MQSeries Client is now shipped as part of VM/ESA V2R3, and MQSeries for VSE/ESA V2R1 will now provide support for clients and TCP/IP based MQI Channels. With this combination, it is now possible to write client programs on VM/ESA that can communicate with MQSeries programs on VSE/ESA. This provides a very convenient and robust program to program communication method to tie VM and VSE together.

This presentation will introduce MQSeries, cover the distinction between the MQSeries Client code, and the full MQSeries product, and look at what is required to write an MQSeries client program on VM/ESA that uses queues defined and managed on VSE/ESA
