Configure the NFS server

Some NFS clients provide more than one way to configure hosts. The following example may not apply to your situation; the exact method depends on which NFS client has been installed.
  • Make sure there is an entry for the host in your c:\windows\hosts file. If you don't have a hosts file, copy the sample file called hosts.sam in the same directory. For Windows NT*, these files are in c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc.

The entries will have an IP address followed by a host name. You can find a host's IP address using PING. An entry looks something like this:
    n.nnn.nnn.nnn hostname # descriptive comments

  • Double click the Network Neighborhood icon.
  • Double click the Entire Network icon. (Depending on the NFS client you are using, you may need to select other interim directories.)
  • Double click the NFS Servers I have Configured icon.
  • Click your right mouse button on an empty spot in that window to obtain a list.
  • Choose Properties.
  • Fill in the new host name, and click on Add.
  • Select Close.

  • Define a VM user ID for the host.
