Following are changes introduced in this release that are of
interest to end users.
If you access a password-protected minidisk, you cannot
specify userid=username,password=mdiskpw.
The VM NFS server will attempt to use mdiskpw as
your logon password.
Instead, use one of the following:
userid=username,password=logonpw,mdiskpw=mdiskpw
mdiskpw=mdiskpw
You may have to use the first form if your TCP/IP administrator
will not allow anonymous access to the target VM NFS server.
NFS Version 3 is supported. The use of this protocol
should improve the efficiency of communications
between NFS client and server.
If your NFS client supports it,
you can select the TCP protocol.
Your administrator can configure a list of EXPORTed file systems,
allowing Windows® clients, for example, to use
point and click to get access to VM file systems.
New parameters are added to MOUNT to allow you to use
your LOGON BY privileges.
New parameters are added to MOUNT to allow you to specify
both a logon password and a minidisk link password in the same
mount string.
DUMP allows you to obtain a list of mounted file systems.
The AIX SHOWMOUNT command, for example,
shows what is mounted for a given host.
A new SMSG QUERY RESOURCE command
allows a CMS user to see what file systems
are active for a given VM NFS server.
A new SMSG QUERY CONFIG command shows you the configuration
parameters that are in effect for the VM NFS server.
