Automatically back up and migrate byte files

Using OpenExtensions services and DFSMS/VM, your enterprise can arrange to automatically back up or periodically migrate byte file systems stored at the host to data archives. A file system can also be restored from archives.

Where backup is critical, you may choose to move a workstation application to z/VM just for this capability. An alternative approach to backing up workstation data is provided with the Data Facility Distributed Storage Manager (DFDSM), which provides for the periodic uploading of data from the workstation for host archival storage.

With DCE and DFSMS/VM, you can write a server that can back up and migrate byte file systems to storage devices at remote hosts.
