August 4, 1997
Arlington, VA--The Information Technology Association of America (ITAA) today announced that IBM S/390 Division, VM, and Related Products Development Organization of Endicott, NY has received ITAA*2000 certification. ITAA*2000 is the industry's century date change certification program. The program examines process and methods used by companies to perform their Year 2000 software conversions.

IBM participated in a rigorous evaluation of its approach to date conversion, with extensive analysis in eleven discrete process areas deemed necessary to a successful Year 2000 conversion. IBM products developed using the certified processes and methods are: VM/ESA, RTM/ESA, HMF PVM, RSCS, DMS, VMPRF, VM/BATCH, VMPAF, DirMaint, and CUF. Certification indicates that this IBM organization has the core capabilities needed to address the Year 2000 challenge.

The ITAA Year 2000 Task Force conducts a full program of Year 2000-related activities, all aimed at helping customers in government and the private sector respond quickly and effectively to the software conversion challenge.
