Product Number: 5684-100 Release 2.1.1

Running the PVM and CVIEW servers on CMS 12+

Both the PVM and CVIEW servers require a 370 mode virtual machine. 370 mode is no longer supported on VM/ESA V2 with CMS 12 or higher. Both servers will run on an ESA mode virtual machine using CP's 370 accomodation support. To turn this on, add the following line in the profile exec for each server:

'CP SET 370ACCOM ON'

In addition, the virtual storage size must not exceed 16M for the CVIEW server. Various errors may occur when the virtual storage size is greater than 16M. For instance, the following error messages may be issued as CVIEW initialization fails:

DXG750I Error return from 'WAIT', 'HNDINIT', or 'INSTANT'
DXGMAI253E Error occurred in DXGVMCF: 97

DMSHDE744R Unexpected external interrupt detected

A hardware microcode patch is require if the following error occurs on the PVM server:

DMSHDE744R Unexpected external interrupt detected,
interrupt status consists of
CODE=1004, CPUID=0000, PARAMETER=00000000.
