Following are changes introduced in this release that are of interest to end users.
- If you access a password-protected minidisk, you cannot
specify userid=username,password=mdiskpw.
The VM NFS server will attempt to use mdiskpw as
your logon password.
Instead, use one of the following:
- userid=username,password=logonpw,mdiskpw=mdiskpw
- mdiskpw=mdiskpw
You may have to use the first form if your TCP/IP administrator will not allow anonymous access to the target VM NFS server.
- NFS Version 3 is supported. The use of this protocol
should improve the efficiency of communications
between NFS client and server.
- If your NFS client supports it,
you can select the TCP protocol.
- Your administrator can configure a list of EXPORTed file systems,
allowing Windows® clients, for example, to use
point and click to get access to VM file systems.
- New parameters are added to MOUNT to allow you to use
your LOGON BY privileges.
- New parameters are added to MOUNT to allow you to specify
both a logon password and a minidisk link password in the same
mount string.
- DUMP allows you to obtain a list of mounted file systems.
The AIX SHOWMOUNT command, for example,
shows what is mounted for a given host.
- A new SMSG QUERY RESOURCE command
allows a CMS user to see what file systems
are active for a given VM NFS server.
- A new SMSG QUERY CONFIG command shows you the configuration parameters that are in effect for the VM NFS server.
