Following are changes introduced in this release that are of interest to the administrator of the VM NFS server machine.
- If you have users who access public
minidisks (anonymous access) when using an
External Security Manager:
You may need to define a user ID of ANONYMOU for the system
when you move to Function Level 320.
See
Appendix A. Using TCP/IP with an External Security Manager
in the TCP/IP Function Level 320 Planning and Customization
book for more information.
- You can configure EXPORT strings to allow Windows® users, for
example, to use point and click to get access to VM file systems.
EXPORTed file systems can
include 'wildcards' for user ID, BFS root,
and BFS initial working directory.
- More of the VM NFS server machine's parameters are tailorable, and
you can refresh server configuration parameters
without stopping the server.
- Security is enhanced.
- The ANONYMOUS DTCPARMS or start-up parameter also applies to
minidisk MOUNTs.
- A new exit, VMNFSSMG, screens all SMSG requests.
- The VMNFSMON exit is improved to handle new MOUNT options.
- You can configure
whether mounts should be restricted to exported file systems only.
- You can configure whether or not the server should provide a list of mounted file systems.
- The ANONYMOUS DTCPARMS or start-up parameter also applies to
minidisk MOUNTs.
- More detailed
tracing is available with the use of the
MASK start-up or SMSG command. Increased
subsetting of trace information is
also possible.
- New start-up parameters allow you to restrict the server to the Version 2 NFS level and UDP communications.
