Abstract:
Have you worked with a Mainframe before? Maybe yes, maybe not. Regardless if you are an experienced Mainframe Systems Programmer - or have a background in Unix and Linux systems: This session will introduce you to the world of running Linux on the System z Platform.
Containing examples from the x86 world, attendees with a PC or Unix background will learn how to conduct the same administrative tasks on a Linux on System z based system related to the following components: CPU, memory, network, tapes and hard disks.
For the mainframe systems programmer we'll take a look at cultural differences
& similarities and show you how to operate a zLinux virtual guest. Finally
we'll take a look at common environments and point you to the right places to
find more valuable information.
