TRSOURCE I/O Trace Instructions

Sometimes we might ask you for a TRSOURCE I/O trace. This web page gives instructions.

You will need to do this from a class C VM user ID.

  1. TRSOURCE ID TRC1 TYPE IO DEV rdev IOD 100
    where rdev is the real device number you want to trace. A range can be specified as rdev-rdev.

  2. TRSAVE ID TRC1 TO *

  3. TRSOURCE ENABLE ID TRC1

  4. Run your test(s) to the rdev(s) specified above.

  5. TRSOURCE DISABLE ID TRC1

  6. Q TRF
    This will show you the spool ID of the file containing the trace.

  7. TRACERED spoolid CMS TRC1 TRACE A
    where spoolid is from the output of the Q TRF command. This puts a CMS trace file on your A disk.

  8. Hit ENTER when prompted by the TRACERED command. A trace file will be placed on your A-disk.
