**> Last update: 22 Mar 2000 **> Synch'd w/RETAIN: 08 Jun 2000 *********************** * SUBSET 9801RSU * *********************** This subset contains service recommendation information for TCP/IP Version 2, Release 4 Modification 0 specific to the installation of the RSU tape. Service recommendations for all product components listed in this subset. Be sure to refer to the RSU subset that matches the service level of the RSU tape that is to be installed. PTF service listed in this subset should be applied after the RSU tape has been loaded. After the date that this subset is no longer supported, it is recommended that the latest RSU and corresponding subset be use when applying new levels of service. If you are a SoftwareXcel customer and choose not to use the latest RSU, you can search on HIPER and the applicable component identifiers (ie COMPONENT ID and RELEASE) to determine the recommended service that should be ordered. This is necessary so that the correct BPX support for the BPX POSIX routines (OpenExtensions for VM/ESA Callable Services) will be incorporated in these modules. 2. 1998/01/05 Item Updated 1998/01/16 When RSU or corrective (COR) service is applied, please NOTE THE FOLLOWING: When the TCP2PROD command is invoked with a 'CONFIG' operand (that is, TCPCONFIG, NFSCONFIG or KERBCONFIG), existing configured files that reside on the TCPMAINT 591, 592 and 198 minidisks will be overlayed by their non-configured sample counterparts. (Files for which corresponding CATALOG entries have been 'bypassed' are not affected.) Thus, it's recommended that the TCP2PROD command be invoked with a 'CONFIG' operand ONLY when the TCP/IP base product, or one of its features is initially installed, as indicated in sections 6.2.5.1, 6.4.4.1 and 6.5.4.1 or 6.6.4.1. APAR PQ11677 (PTF UQ13189) is available to address this problem. 1. 1997/10/01 Until the recent availability of RSU ordering and delivery through the internet, RSU tapes were too large to be sent electronically. Implementation of the internet FTP option allows RSUs to be delivered to customers electronically as envelopes. Because electronic delivery was previously not available, the RSU instructions do not contain information about receipt of RSU service from an envelope. On the step where the RSU tape is mounted (instead of mounting and attaching the tape) follow the procedures in the ServiceLink Users Guide to retrieve and decompact the envelope file to your A-disk. (This is currently done by using the VMDPACK module supplied by ServiceLink.) The file name of the decompacted file will be of the format RPTFnnnn. The file type will be SERVLINK. You will need to enter the file name on the VMFINS commands below. Instead of issuing: VMFINS INSTALL INFO (NOMEMO issue: VMFINS INSTALL INFO (NOMEMO ENV RPTFnnnn where RPTFnnnn is the file name for the envelope containing the RSU image. NOTE: This ENV keyword and envelope file name (RPTFnnnn) option will need to be included on ANY remaining VMFINS INSTALL commands in the RSU instructions. ************************************************************************ * SECTION 2.
