z/VM Virtual Networking Link Aggregation - Configure switch ports

IEEE 802.3ad defines the Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) that allows switches to exchange information and maintain agreement about a link aggregation group. The use of LACP is recommended for the virtual switch and is the default mode (LACP ACTIVE) when a port group is created on z/VM.

• Configure two Cisco 6509 ports as an LACP Etherchannel
• Configure two SMC 6624M ports as an LACP trunk
