z/VM Virtual Networking Link Aggregation - Verify setup

The QUERY PORT command can be used to display information about the state of the port group from the VM side. When the VSWITCH is first activated and LACP Active is configured, LACP negotiations begin with the partner switch. An example of the state during this transition is:

q port group ethgrp

Group: ETHGRP Active LACP Mode: Active
  VSWITCH SYSTEM ETH1 Interval: 300
  RDEV: 9C00 VDEV: 9C00 Controller: DTCVSW1
        Status: Waiting Reason: LACP negotiation
    VSWITCH Connection:
      MAC address: 02-22-90-00-00-05
      RX Packets: 0 Discarded: 0 Errors: 0
      TX Packets: 2 Discarded: 0 Errors: 0
RX Bytes: 0 TX Bytes: 320
Device: 9C02 Unit: 002 Role: DATA Port: 0001 Index: 000

  RDEV: 9D00 Controller: NONE
 Backup Devices:
  RDEV: 2100 Controller: NONE

When LACP negotiations are complete and all devices have been assigned a controller, QUERY PORT will look similar to this:

q port group ethgrp det

Group: ETHGRP Active LACP Mode: Active
  VSWITCH SYSTEM ETH1 Interval: 300

ROUTING Information - Frame Distribution per Interval:

You may also need to verify configuration information from the partner switch side. The commands issued depend on the switch you are using.
