TCP/IP V2R4 - Service Application Notes for APAR PQ04382

Note: Support for TCP/IP Version 2 ended on 31 January, 2001.

If you have ordered or received APAR PQ04382 (PTF UQ27174), it is important to note that several IBM Network Station support APARs and PTFs are pre-requisites for PTF UQ27174, due to a mutually affected part (the TCPBL491 EXEC build list).

To allow for the successful application of PTF UQ27174, you must either:

  1. Define the additional user IDs and minidisks required for IBM Network Station support, or

  2. Create and maintain local modifications to bypass VMSES/E and other data that corresponds to the IBM Network Station Support.

The first of these is the recommended choice, since the need to maintain the necessary local modifications is avoided. Details about the user IDs and minidisks required can be found in the TCP/IP Version 2 Release 4 corrective service memo ( COR Service Memo).

Notes

  • If you plan to not make use of the IBM Network Station support, you can define a minimally-sized (1 cylinder) minidisk for the P735FALK 493 test build minidisk cited in Table 1: New DASD Storage Requirements for Target Minidisks - IBM Network Station Support of the COR memo.

  • Equally as important, if there are no IBM Network Stations in use in your environment, do not obtain or apply the following APARs/PTFs, or an equivalent superceding APAR/PTF:

    • PQ02301 / UQ03142
    • PQ05644 / UQ06739
    • PQ08331 / UQ11737

These APARs/PTFs are delivery vehicles for the Network Station client code function, and will serve no purpose in such an environment.

  • If you are applying PTF UQ27174 (and its pre-requisite IBM Network Station support PTFS) on a VM/ESA Version 1 Release 2.2 (VM/ESA 1.2.2) system, you will need to perform additional VM/ESA 1.2.2 modifications so that requisite PTF UQ03096 for APAR PQ01770 can be applied.
