Performance Toolkit for VM Feature FL530

Performance Toolkit for VM FL530
The Performance Toolkit for VM was initially shipped with z/VM 4.4.0 to provide enhanced capabilities for a z/VM systems programmer, system operator, or performance analyst to monitor and report performance data. Offered as a priced optional feature of z/VM, the Performance Toolkit for VM is derived from the FCON/ESA program (5788-LGA), which was not available in all countries. Use the Performance Toolkit to reduce data from the z/VM MONITOR and produce reports and history files.

For z/VM V5.3, Performance Toolkit for VM is being upgraded to a new function level (FL530) and includes:

  • Support passphrases when accessing the Performance Toolkit using the Web interface
  • Change the service process for Performance Toolkit from a full-part replacement MODULE to service by individual object parts, reducing the size of the service deliverable
  • Provide new or updated displays and reports to support the following new z/VM V5.3 functions:
    • Linux monitor data for virtual CPUs and steal time counters
    • Monitor data for virtual network devices and virtual switches
    • Monitor data for guest simulation of zAAPs, zIIPs, and IFLs
    • Monitor data for up to 32 processors in a z/VM image
  • Change to a dump readable by the Dump Viewing Facility
