The IBM z/VM Directory Maintenance Facility Feature (DirMaint) of z/VM 5.1.0 is a CMS application that helps manage an installation's VM directory.

DirMaint Feature function level (FL) 510 is an enhancement of DirMaint Feature FL 410 and Release 5 of the predecessor product, IBM Directory Maintenance for VM/ESA, number 5748-XE4.

2005-07-26:
IBM has announced z/VM Version 5.2.0, program number 5741-A05, with availability planned for 2005-12-16. DirMaint FL 510 is included on the system DDRs as a pre-installed optional priced feature. DirMaint FL 510 is based upon the DirMaint FL 410 feature, and the predecessor product, program number 5748-XE4, with several enhancements. Support for z/VM 5.2.0 will be provided via the PTF(s) for APAR VM63733 and VM63861, which will be included on the z/VM 5.2.0 stacked RSU. Refer to the z/VM 5.2.0 General Information Manual, the z/VM Web Site, or contact your branch office or marketing representative, for further details.

IBM has announced z/VM Version 5.1.0, program number 5741-A05, with availability planned for 2004-09-24. DirMaint FL 510 is included on the system DDRs as a pre-installed optional priced feature. DirMaint FL 510 is based upon the DirMaint FL 410 feature, and the predecessor product, program number 5748-XE4, with several enhancements. DirMaint FL 510 became generally available concurrently with the availability of z/VM 5.1.0. No PTFs are required for use on z/VM 5.1.0. PTFs are required for subsequent z/VM releases, as follows:

DirMaint FL 510 is supported in a multiple system cluster consisting of at least one z/VM version 5 system, plus one or more:

  • z/VM 3.1.0 (until 2005-12-31), or
  • z/VM 4.3.0 (until 2005-05-31), or
  • z/VM 4.4.0 (until 2006-09-30) systems.
All of the DirMaint service machines in the cluster (DIRMAINT, DATAMOVEs, and DIRMSATs) must be running the DirMaint FL 510 level of code. Each of the z/VM version 5 systems in the cluster must be licensed for the DirMaint FL 510 feature; each of the z/VM version 4 systems in the cluster must be licensed for the DirMaint FL 410 feature; and any z/VM 3.1.0 systems (or VM/ESA systems) in the cluster must be licensed for the DirMaint 1.5.0 product.
