The IBM z/VM Directory Maintenance Facility Feature (DirMaint) of z/VM 4.1.0 is a CMS application that helps manage an installation's VM directory.

DirMaint Feature function level (FL) 410 is functionally equivalent to Release 5 of the IBM Directory Maintenance for VM/ESA product, number 5748-XE4.

IBM has announced z/VM 4.4.0 with availability planned for 2003-08-15. DirMaint FL 410 support will be available via the PTF(s) for APAR VM63251, which will be included on the z/VM 4.4.0 stacked RSU. Refer to the z/VM 4.4.0 Announcement Letter, the z/VM 4.4.0 General Information Manual, the z/VM V4.4 resources, or contact your branch office or marketing representative, for further details.

2002-11-01:
IBM has announced z/VM 4.3.0 with availability planned for 2002-05-31. DirMaint FL 410 support is available via the PTF(s) for APAR VM63033, which are included on the z/VM 4.3.0 stacked RSU. Refer to the z/VM 4.3.0 Announcement Letter, the z/VM V4.3 resources or contact your branch office or marketing representative, for further details.

2001-10-04:
IBM has announced z/VM 4.2.0 with availability planned for 2001-10-26. DirMaint FL 410 support is available via the PTF(s) for APAR VM62609, which are included on the z/VM 4.2.0 stacked RSU.

2001-05-29:
IBM has announced z/VM Version 4.1.0, program number 5739-A03, which now includes DirMaint as an optional priced feature. DirMaint Function Level 410 is functionally equivalent to release 5 of the DirMaint product, number 5748-XE4.

Environments Supported

DirMaint FL 410 became generally available concurrently with the availability of z/VM 4.1.0. No PTFs are required for use on z/VM 4.1.0. PTFs are required for subsequent z/VM releases, as follows:

DirMaint FL 410 is supported in a multiple system cluster consisting of at least one z/VM version 4 system, plus one or more:

  • VM/ESA 2.3.0 (until 2002-03-31),
  • VM/ESA 2.4.0 (until 2003-06-30),
  • z/VM 3.1.0 (until 2005-12-31), or
  • z/VM version 4 systems.
All of the DirMaint service machines in the cluster (DIRMAINT, DATAMOVEs, and DIRMSATs) must be running the DirMaint FL 410 level of code. Each of the z/VM version 4 systems in the cluster must be licensed for the DirMaint FL 410 feature; and any z/VM 3.1.0 or VM/ESA systems in the cluster must be licensed for the DirMaint 1.5.0 product.
