Abstract
Perhaps you have already implemented a Linux guest environment using z/VM
Version 4 Release 3, and are now preparing to move the environment into
production. As part of that process you are also evaluating installation of
z/VM Version 4 Release 4 (z/VM 4.4) and wondering whether implementation of
new z/VM 4.4 networking capabilities would simplify the routed Guest LAN
network you previously implemented. This presentation will begin with an
overview of guest networking alternatives provided with both z/VM 4.3 and z/VM
4.4, then focus on comparing Guest LANs with z/VM virtual switches. In
addition, the presentation will cover the steps necessary to implement a z/vM
virtual switch, and why you might
choose one over the other. There will be a Question and Answer session
following the presentation.
