Jim currently has three roles in System z for IBM Canada.
He is the System z Sales Specialist
covering ‘New Workloads’ for Enterprise Systems;
the System z Sales Specialist for all Business Systems customers
(SMB or GB); and the Product Manager for System z Operating
Systems.
In addition he is a zChampion represnting System z development
to customers across Canada and the Linux Champion for IBM Canada.
Over a 35 year career at IBM
he has had roles in IT operations, systems
programming and technical marketing support for IBM
Canada and application development for IBM
Americas/Far East. From 1992 through 2001 he was
responsible for product management for a variety of
mainframe operating systems for IBM Canada and then
for IBM Americas. From mid-1998 to the end of 2001
he was responsible for launching Linux on IBM
mainframes for IBM Americas. At the start
of 2002, Jim came back to Canada as Advocate for
Linux, Open Source and Virtualization and in that role led IBM
Canada's activities in this area.
In May 2007, Jim became the System z Sales Specialist
for Western Canada and a zChampion.
In January 2008, Jim moved to his current role.
