Updated: 04 Nov. 2009

Thank you for visiting the z/VM Site and my developer page.

It's that time of year in New York State when the hillsides turn all sorts of green, gold, orange and cherry... and then the leaves fall. Whether you have to spend some time raking or being thankful that you don't have to rake, it's also a good time to plan for your z/VM and Linux education needs for 2010.

Consider attending one of the major user group meetings - SHARE, WAVV or GSE, and also the IBM System z Technical conferences. Find these and other great events on the VM events calendar.

What's the latest level of z/VM?
On July 7 2009, IBM previewed z/VM V6.1. It was then announced on Oct. 20, 2009 and made generally available on Oct. 23, 2009. z/VM V6.1 requires System z10 or greater, so if you're not on z10, then for the time being, z/VM V5.4 is orderable. But if you have a z10, go for z/VM V6.1 so that you are on the latest and prepared for the future.

August 2, 2007 was VM's 35th birthday. I hope you take a moment to reflect on the fond memories of the VM community at large and also the value VM continues to provide to your enterprise. SHARE user group celebrated at their August 2007 meeting,

If you attended or participated in our past technical conferences we appreciate your doing so. It was a pleasure to meet with you and I hope you found the technical sessions to be valuable.

Thank you for attending recent zSeries Technical Conferences and Expos:
- Oct. 2008 in Las Vegas, NV
- May 2008 in Dresden, Germany
- Sep. 2007 in San Antonio, TX
- Mar. 2007 in Munich, Germany
- Oct. 2006 in Orlando, FL

Do you know the latest about z/VM?

Read about z/VM V6.1z/VM V6.1 and z/VM V5.4 capabilities and the how new pricing on a dedicated engine may make it more affordable to add capacity to create and manage tens to thousands of virtual Linux servers.

It is indeed a pleasure to meet with our customers and I look forward meeting with you throughout 2010 and beyond.

With kind regards, Pam C
